TENNIS BACKGROUND of Raju Jubbal
He started playing Tennis at the age of seven. As a junior he was amongst the top players in
the state of Delhi, India and continued to be amongst the top few in the state at a senior level.
He also played in the national circuit and also played in some satellite tournaments.
Raju started his coaching career at the age of 23 for Shyam Minotra (ex Davis Cup player for India) Tennis Academy. His duties there included teaching tennis and overseeing the physical training of some of the
top juniors in Delhi, India.
1991 - 1993 Raju did the 2 year coaching course with Tennis Australia to attain his present qualification in Sydney
1993-1996 moved to Tasmania, Australia where he was ranked in the top 15 in the singles and top 10 in the doubles. Was Head Coach at the Indoor Tennis Centre in Tasmania, Australia. Four of the juniors he trained represented the state in the National Championships and one of them represented Australia in the inter-school championships played amongst U.S.A., Brazil and Australia. Raju also managed the girls 16 and under Tasmanian State Team for the Nationals.
1996 - 1999 He was the Regional Development Officer/Coach for the Lawn Tennis Association of Western Australia.
June 1999 - Aug. 1999: He worked at a summer camp in Monticello, New York. (U.S.A.) as one of the coaches. The camp had over 800 children during the summer.
August 1999 - March 2000 He worked at an Indoor tennis centre in Darien - Connecticut (U.S.A.)
May 2000 - May 2003: He was employed by Tennis Queensland as the Regional Development Coordinator Along with the RDC position he also worked as the Resident Coach of the Copper City Tennis Club in Mt. Isa. He also started and conducted a junior tennis tournament circuit, which still runs today. While in the U.S.A he also assisted one of the clubs in Virginia teaching some of the top Wheelchair Tennis players in U.S.A. He continued clinics for the physically handicapped in Mt. Isa.
2001 & 2003 won the Mt. Isa Open..
